Burning Tips for Soy Candles

These days, scented soy candles are a great asset to every house. But when it comes to safety, we cannot make much difference from the paraffin candles. There are many types of soy candles available in the market; you need to be aware of their attributes.

It is important to always place the soy candle on a heat resistant and dry surface; away from anything inflammable. You should always keep the soy candle away from children, pets and drafts. Using an appropriate candle holder will help. Just avoid burning candles in a breeze or near extreme vibration.

At the time of burning, the soy candle liquefies to the edge before turning off eventually. This prevents tunneling. The candle that has a larger diameter, takes less time to liquefy to the edge. It’s always important to put off the flames before replacing the container.

When you find the candle starting to give out smoke, it means the wick of the candle is longer than it should be. Just put off the wick and wait for it to solidify, before trimming the wick.

Always replace a damaged container; never use a container that is cracked, chipped or broken. Also, it’s important to remember that the glass container becomes hot very quickly. Always burn the candle on a protected surface or coaster to avoid moving lit candles.

When you find the height of candle getting closer to ¼”, just discontinue burning that candle. If you allow the candle to burn, no liquid remains and the excessive heat may cause the glass surface to break or cause damage to any other surface you might be using.

Never allow direct sunlight exposure to any soy wax candle because sunlight may change the characteristic of the soy candle. Its advisable to always store soy candles in a cool and dry place.
